LWPTSA Council Scholarship Program — 13 awards for LWSD graduating seniors for $1,250 each, and 3 awards for LWSD certificated staff for $500 each.Each year, Lake Washington PTSA Council awards a variety of scholarships to graduating LWSD seniors and to LWSD certificated staff. Funding for these scholarships is provided by the generosity of our local PTAs, support from our community friends at the LWEA and LWSF, and occasional donations from the community at large.

Student scholarships—recognizing achievement, community service, perseverance and more—assist recipients in their post-secondary educations. Scholarships for certificated LWSD staff provide assistance with continuing education at an institute of higher learning or through LWSD professional development opportunities.

2026 Scholarship Program

LWPTSA Council will open our 2026 scholarship program in early 2026.

In the meantime, we invite you to read the information in the 2025 forms for details, which we anticipate will be largely duplicated in 2026. Students may apply for multiple categories, but a maximum of only one scholarship will be awarded per student. Find category descriptions here, as well as in the application.

The deadline for 2026 applications will be shared when program details are released in early 2026.

Applications are carefully reviewed by our scholarship program committee to redact names and all identifying information before being presented to our impartial volunteer judges, to promote anonymous, fair evaluation.

2026 Dates and Deadlines — TENTATIVE

  • Early February 2026 – Applications open
  • Late March 2026 – Applications due by 11:59 pm
  • April 2026 – Applications are evaluated by the Scholarship Committee
  • Mid-May 2026 – Recipients and high schools notified of scholarship awardees
  • Early June 2026 – Reception to honor recipients at LWSD Resource Center (immediately preceding LWSD school board meeting)

Our 2025 Scholarships

In 2025, LWPTSA Council awarded 13 student scholarships for $1,250 each, in the following categories:

  • 8 Merit Scholarships
  • 1 LWEA/Teeley Scholarship (Funded by the LWEA)
  • 1 Perseverance Scholarship
  • 1 Turnaround Scholarship
  • 1 Two-Year, Technical or Vocational School Scholarship
  • 1 At-Large Scholarship

Also awarded in 2025 were two certificated staff scholarships for $500 each, including one LWEA Mawhinney Staff Scholarship for Special Education. Find category descriptions here, as well as in the application.

Local PTA Scholarship Assessment & Donation for 2025-26

For the 2025-2026 academic year, LWPTSA Council asks our local PTAs to add a donation (recommended amount of $200) to the required yearly scholarship program assessment of $125 per PTA.

INVOICE WILL BE AVAILABLE FALL 2025

The assessment and donation may be paid together in one check. Checks must be received by [date TBD]. Instructions for submission are on the invoice. Presidents or other leaders may bring checks to the in-person October general meeting.
