LWPTSA Council Scholarship Program — 13 awards for LWSD graduating seniors for $1,250 each, and 3 awards for LWSD certificated staff for $500 each.Each year, Lake Washington PTSA Council awards a variety of scholarships to graduating seniors and to LWSD certificated staff. Funding for these scholarships is provided by the generosity of our local PTAs and donations from the greater community. Student scholarships—recognizing achievement, community service, perseverance and more—assist recipients in their post-secondary educations. Scholarships for certificated LWSD staff provide assistance with continuing education at an institute of higher learning or through LWSD professional development opportunities.

2025 Scholarship Program

LWPTSA Council is pleased to announce that our 2025 scholarship program is now open. We will be awarding 13 student scholarships for LWSD seniors and three scholarships at $500 each for certificated LWSD staff members.

Please carefully read the information in the forms for details about award categories, and apply only for the appropriate category or categories. Students may apply for multiple categories, but a maximum of only one scholarship will be awarded per student. Find category descriptions here, as well as in the application.

All applications are due by 11:59 pm, March 14, 2025.

Applications are carefully reviewed by our scholarship program committee to redact names and all identifying information before being presented to our impartial volunteer judges, to promote anonymous, fair evaluation.

2025 Dates and Deadlines

  • Week of February 10, 2025 – Applications open
  • March 14, 2025 – Applications due by 11:59 pm
  • March/April 2025 – Applications are evaluated by the Scholarship Committee
  • Mid-May 2025 – Recipients and high schools notified of scholarship awardees
  • June 2, 2025 – Reception to honor recipients at LWSD Resource Center (tentatively planned to precede LWSD school board meeting)

Our 2024 Scholarships

In 2024, LWPTSA Council awarded 17 student scholarships for $1,250 each, in the following categories:

  • 8 Merit Scholarships
  • 1 LWEA/Teeley Scholarship (Funded by the LWEA)
  • 3 Perseverance Scholarships
  • 1 Turnaround Scholarship
  • 1 Two-Year, Technical or Vocational School Scholarship
  • 3 At-Large Scholarships

Also awarded in 2024 were two certificated staff scholarships for $500 each. Find category descriptions here, as well as in the application.

Local PTA Scholarship Assessment & Donation for 2024-25

For the 2024-2025 academic year, LWPTSA Council will not be holding the basket auction to fund the scholarship program. In place of the auction, Council asks our local PTAs to add a donation (recommended amount of $200) to the required yearly scholarship program assessment of $125 per PTA.

The assessment and donation may be paid together in one check. Checks must be received by Nov. 15, 2024. Instructions for submission are on the invoice. Presidents or other leaders may bring checks to the in-person October 3 general meeting.
