WSPTA Legislative Priorities
The Washington State PTA legislative platform is a two-year platform to mirror the Washington state legislative cycle. On the even-numbered years, the new platform is voted on by members at the WSPTA Legislative Assembly in the fall. The top five issues become our short-term platform and consist of our priority issues when advocating throughout the year. Other issues are placed on an “also-supported” list. During the odd-numbered years, members vote to amend current issues or to add new, emerging issues to the also-supported list.
This page will be updated with the new Legislative Priorities after Legislative Assembly in October 2026.
In the meantime, Council encourages our local PTAs to send at least one representative to the WA State PTA 48th annual Legislative Assembly:
- WHEN: October 16–17, 2026
- WHERE: Cascadia College in Bothell, WA
For local PTAs to get ready for Legislative Assembly:
- Consider including registration and travel expenses in your PTA budget.
- Identify delegates who can represent your PTA. Encourage students to attend!
- Let Council know who you are sending so we can connect.
- Collect community feedback so your delegate knows how to vote on behalf of your community. Consider using this poster at an in-person event — it’s a great way to get feedback from families, students and staff!

While our advocacy work mainly focuses on the WSPTA’s legislative priorities, we also take note of the Lake Washington School District’s legislative priorities, with special consideration around the areas where our principles intersect or overlap.
