Each year, this statewide essay contest explores the important and varied influences in the lives and education of children—from the children’s perspective. In their entries, students are asked to write about a person they personally know who has influenced their lives, whether it is someone who has sparked an interest in a new topic, helped them work through a problem, has shaped the kind of person they want to become, or any number of other impactful actions.

WSPTA will again invite student entries into the 2025-2026 Essay Contest next fall.
