🗓 Date: Wednesday, June 4th
🕦 Time: 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM
📍 Location: Zoom — REGISTER
🧭 Workshop Topic: “Defining and Defending Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging”
As our Council transitions from using “DEI” to “DEIB,” we invite you to explore why “belonging” is a vital addition—and how it shapes the way we lead. Learn more about this shift in this article.
In this interactive session, we’ll unpack:
💬 Shared terminology to bring clarity and consistency
📖 Personal stories to illustrate the concepts
🛠️ Practical strategies for engaging in respectful, effective conversations—especially when facing resistance
To help set the stage for our discussion, we’re offering two brief articles in advance [Article 1] [Article 2]. These readings will provide helpful context and reflection points for all participants. 📄 Let us know if you’d like a copy when you register!
💡 Let’s Finish the Year Strong—And “Belong” More, Together.

Local leaders, please join us in person for our final membership meeting of the 2024-25 year! Please invite your incoming 2025-26 board members, too.
All local PTA leaders are invited to attend our monthly membership meetings, typically held the first Thursday of the month during the school year. Meetings will mostly be during daytime hours, with occasional evening meeting times, and will be a mix of in-person and virtual Zoom meetings. At least one elected leader from each of our area PTA/PTSA units is expected to attend each meeting. Additional leaders are always welcomed.
In-person membership meetings will be held at the Lake Washington School District Resource Center in Redmond Town Center. The LWSD Resource Center address is: 16250 NE 74th St., Redmond WA 98052. Zoom meeting links for our online meetings will be available in the Weekly Waves newsletter that all local PTA leaders receive.
Year-end financial review time is nearly upon our PTAs, and we know you might have questions. Please join our roundtable for a free-flowing discussion on the financial review process, committee duties, tips for getting things done smoothly, and more. Those new to financial reviews as well as experienced financial review committee volunteers are invited to come to ask questions and share ideas.

The role of secretary is about more than just taking meeting minutes. Join this training to learn the ins and outs of filling this essential office.

Do you have questions about how to wrap up your PTA year and/or how to get off to a good start with your new board over the summer? Join LWPTSA Council on June 18 at 7 pm via Zoom to ask all your burning questions!

This is the most important and useful class of them all, as it will prepare you and your fellow officers to run your PTA with an eye toward the important legal and fiscal requirements in running a nonprofit. PTA and the Law deals with state and federal rules and regulations relevant to running a charitable, tax-exempt, nonprofit corporation in the state of Washington, and will explain how these rules impact your PTA.
PTA and the Law is a required class for at least one elected officer per PTA each year.
