Join LWPTSA Council’s Special Education Group (SEG) for a discussion with Roots of Inclusion aimed at empowering parents of children with disabilities. Learn about how the current processes surrounding Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and evaluations can limit a child’s educational progress. The panelists will highlight the policies and practices that may result in years of inappropriate support and inadequate access to the general education curriculum. We will discuss strategies to navigate these issues, focused on ensuring that children with disabilities receive the comprehensive support they require for meaningful educational access and outcomes. Ample time for Q&A will follow.
CHILD CARE IS AVAILABLE for LWSD students and school-aged siblings. Contact SpecialServices@LWSD.org by May 16 with your student’s name and age.
Please RSVP on our Facebook Event page to assist us in our planning.

This WSPTA-approved training session will help all PTA/PTSA board members understand the basic responsibilities of their positions—and everyone else’s! We will review the basic elected PTA positions (president, secretary & treasurer), and we’ll also cover topics such as advocacy, fiduciary responsibility, membership and outreach. This training is ideal for anyone new to a local PTA board, as well as any board officer who could benefit from a comprehensive overview of the board’s responsibilities in the PTA realm.

The role of the vice president is the most flexible and versatile on the board of directors. Vice presidents don’t just shadow the president; they are an essential link between the board of directors and the PTA’s volunteers and chairpeople. Get some tips and tricks to manage the role of vice president and get set up for success!
This is a WSPTA-approved training, ideal for vice presidents but open to any PTA officer, board member and/or program chair. LWPTSA Council will be leading this free virtual training, which will count toward the WSPTA training requirement for the 2024-25 year.

The financial management of the PTA is the responsibility of the entire board of directors.
