This year we will offer two shorter virtual welcome events on September 16 and September 23. Join us and learn about: navigating the LWSD school system, resources, and support available from the district, PTSA and how you can be involved, the Pacific Northwest culture and activities, relocation challenges, as well as how to support your child through transition.
Part 1 on September 16 will focus on: Social, Emotional and Community Support for students and families. Download the agenda.

LWPTSA Council has organized a 3 part series for elementary families, parents and guardians to gain confidence to support elementary-aged children while also growing their developmentally appropriate independence and interest in learning.
- Session 1: Tuesday, September 22, 7-8:30pm: Setting up routines and systems that work for parents, kids and your family’s sanity!
- Session 2: Tuesday, September 29, 7-8:30pm: Meltdowns, tantrums, refusal to do work…how do we calm the storm so learning can happen?
- Session 3: Wednesday, October 7, 7-8:30pm: We laid the groundwork, now how do we increase our child’s independence and confidence?

Brown Bag Lunches are short presentations and discussions on topics of interest to all community members, from noon – 1 pm on select Thursdays at the LWSD Resource Center (Redmond Town Center). Lunches are open to all. NOTE: Fall 2020 events will held virtually.

Understanding Legacy: Disability Rights History in the US by Eric Warwick, Defending Democracy Fellow for the Western States Center.
Eric is a disability rights self-advocate and paraeducator based in Spokane and previously worked on education justice and disability rights issues in the Seattle area. The presentation will discuss disability history and its implications for the present-day movement to build towards disability justice.
