Roles and Responsibilities of the Board Training @ Online on Zoom
Oct 8 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Roles and Responsibilities of the Board Training @ Online on Zoom

This WSPTA-approved training session will help all PTA/PTSA board members understand the basic responsibilities of their positions—and everyone else’s! We will review the basic elected PTA positions (president, secretary & treasurer), and we’ll also cover topics such as advocacy, fiduciary responsibility, membership and outreach. This training is ideal for anyone new to a local PTA board, as well as any board officer who could benefit from a comprehensive overview of the board’s responsibilities in the PTA realm.

This official training will be led by LWPTSA Council, and will count toward your 2024-2025 training requirement.

Bring your student’s laptop with you to try out the tools alongside the presentation.
This presentation offers an introduction to various assistive technology (AT) tools available to students, empowering caregivers to support their student’s use of these resources. We’ll introduce you to Microsoft accessibility features, literacy support systems like Clicker 8 and WordQ5, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) techniques, and discuss how caregivers can leverage AI to enhance their understanding of educational topics. By familiarizing yourself with these tools, you’ll be better equipped to assist your student in their learning journey, promote their academic success, and contribute to a more inclusive educational environment where all students can thrive regardless of their individual needs.

We host monthly meetings that start with time for families to connect with one another, followed by a formal presentation on topics relevant to the SEG community and an opportunity for member questions and input.
