This is the most important and useful class of them all, as it will prepare you and your fellow officers to run your PTA with an eye toward the important legal and fiscal requirements in running a nonprofit. PTA and the Law deals with state and federal rules and regulations relevant to running a charitable, tax-exempt, nonprofit corporation in the state of Washington, and will explain how these rules impact your PTA. PTA and the Law is a required class for at least one elected officer per PTA each year.

WSPTA invites families to celebrate our state Reflections winners and essay contest winners on Saturday, April 20, in person at Juanita High School’s Performing Arts Center! Doors open at 3 pm, and the celebration begins at 3:30 pm.

All PTA and DEI leaders are invited to join us virtually on Zoom in April and May for a two-part discussion and learning series: Courageous Conversation®. Both sessions will center on courageous conversations about race and will be facilitated by Na’eemah Webb, LWSD Family Engagement and Community Outreach Coordinator, and Adanna Abakporo, LWSD Equity and Family Engagement Facilitator.

Our May general membership meeting—and our second-to-last one of the year—is this Thursday, May 2, at 7 pm, online via Zoom. This is an important one, as we will be holding our election for our 2024-2025 Council board of directors!

As a reminder, at least one elected leader from each local PTA in our council area is expected to attend our monthly membership meetings. Additional leaders are always welcomed and encouraged to join us. We look forward to seeing you Thursday!

Sustainability Committee meetings for 2023-2024 will be held at the LWSD Resource Center (16250 NE 74th St., Redmond WA 98052) and online via Zoom. Schedule/locations are subject to change. Any changes will be communicated via our website, our newsletters and Facebook Group.

We’re back at the Lynnwood Event Center for this 3-day Convention and Annual Meeting. This is the perfect opportunity for you and your board to network, attend trainings, get new ideas for your school and vote on the important business of our statewide association.
Trainings and networking opportunities will be offered over all 3 days, with the Annual Meeting voting sessions happening on Saturday and Sunday.
Attend our growing exhibit fair on Saturday to learn about programs and services that can help your PTA.
