PTA and the Law (WSPTA Training) @ Virtual

PTA and the Law (WSPTA Training) @ Virtual

This is the most important and useful class of them all, as it will prepare you and your fellow officers to run your PTA with an eye toward the important legal and fiscal requirements in running a nonprofit. PTA and the Law deals with state and federal rules and regulations relevant to running a charitable, tax-exempt, nonprofit corporation in the state of Washington, and will explain how these rules impact your PTA. PTA and the Law is a required class for at least one elected officer per PTA each year.

Town Hall With District Leadership

Join our November SEG meeting, where LWSD Deputy Superintendents and Board Members will share about the inclusion rollout and the school year priorities. Discussion and Q&A will follow.

Special Education Group (SEG) meetings in 2023-2024 will be held in person at the LWSD Resource Center (16250 NE 74th St., Redmond WA 98052). An unstructured networking time will be held from 6:30 to 7 pm, offering an opportunity for members to connect with one another. The formal portion of the meeting will begin at 7 pm.

On-Site Child Care Is Available!

If you require child care during our meetings, please contact specialservices@LWSD.org by Nov. 9, 2023, with your student’s name and age.

Reflections Submission Deadline: Local Entries Advancing to LWPTSA Council @ Online

Local PTAs/PTSAs that are in good standing must finish submitting all advancing entries to LWPTSA Council by 10 pm at the latest on Thursday, Nov. 20. This is a hard deadline!​ Please do not wait till the evening of the 16th. Please log in a few days before the deadline.

Any parents and family members interested in sustainability in our district are invited to join our local PTAs’ sustainability chairs at this month’s LWPTSA Council Sustainability Meeting, next Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 7 to 8:30 pm, on Zoom. Special guests Matt Gillingham (LWSD Deputy Superintendent), Leah Choi (LWSD School Board President) and Eric Laliberte (LWSD School Board Vice President) will join us to hear what parents want from a district-wide sustainability policy.

WSPTA Focus on Advocacy – Q&A “Office Hours” @ Virtual

WSPTA is hosting two virtual Q&A sessions where you can find out more about how Focus on Advocacy Day works and what you can expect from this year’s in-person Focus on Advocacy Day in Olympia (Jan. 15, 2024). This is an open opportunity to have your questions answered by experienced WSPTA advocates. There is no formal program, please just come by and get answers to your questions.
