WSPTA Financial Review Roundtable @ Online on Zoom

As we look toward the end of the PTA year, it is time to start planning for the required year-end financial review. If you haven’t already found your financial review team, it is time to start recruiting. Let WSPTA support you in preparing for the review by joining us March 10 at 12 pm to discuss financial review teams and their duties. This roundtable is aimed at treasurers and financial review teams. For treasurers we will talk about how to prepare your records to hand over to the review team, and members of the financial review committee will have a chance to ask questions about the process of reviewing. There will be a short presentation and then we will open it up for you to ask questions.

On Tuesday, March 18, LWPTSA Council’s Special Education Group (SEG) welcomes health educator Brett Niessen, MPH, to talk to our community about sexual health and relationships for students with disabilities.

Join us at the LWSD Resource Center Board Room at 6:30 pm for informal family networking and social time, and we will begin the presentation with Brett Niessen at 7 pm.

Brett is the lead health educator at Seattle Children’s Hospital and an adjunct faculty member in the University of Washington School of Public Health. He recently authored a blog for Seattle Children’s on supporting students with autism navigating puberty and sexual health education. Brett also recently provided training for our district special educators and nurses.

LWPTSA Council’s Special Education Group’s (SEG) monthly meetings kick off at 6:30 pm with family networking. At 7 pm, we will begin our formal presentation. Ample time for discussion and Q&A will follow.
On-site child care is available for LWSD students and school-aged siblings! Contact SpecialServices@LWSD.org no later than 3 business days prior to the meeting, with your student’s name and age.

LWPTSA Council’s Special Education Group (SEG) aims to connect and support families in the LWSD community with students who receive special services through an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), 504 Accommodations Plan, or Individualized Health Plan (IHP). We host monthly meetings that start with time for families to connect with one another, followed by a formal presentation on topics relevant to the SEG community and an opportunity for member questions and input. We also support families and local PTA special education chairs through a lending library, information about resources available in our community, and updates on news relevant to the special education community.
