This is your opportunity to make a difference! Join us for an engaging and informative session featuring two dynamic speakers:

  • Amy Falcone, Kirkland City Council Member

Due to the LWSD’s cancellation of school on Feb. 5, this meeting has been postponed to next month’s meeting date: Wednesday, March 5, from 11:30 am to 1 pm. Register for this meeting here.

We are excited to continue our Courageous Conversations for Diversity and Inclusion series! Join us as we welcome back Ilsa Gowan, an acclaimed speaker and advocate for social justice, who will lead us in an engaging discussion on “Standing Strong for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging.”

Join us for a courageous and powerful conversation on institutional barriers, the urgent needs of our communities, and meaningful ways to support one another.

Council’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee meets one Wednesday each month of the school year (with the exception of September and June) at 11:30 am. During the 2024-2025 year, meetings will be held online via Zoom.

DEI chairs and other interested leaders from PTAs and PTSAs in the Lake Washington School District are invited to these monthly meetings to discuss DEI issues and advocacy initiatives that impact our students and families.

Due to the winter weather and the likelihood of a delayed start and/or school cancellations, we have made the call to move our February GMM to an evening Zoom meeting.

REGISTER FOR THE ZOOM LINK

All local PTA leaders are invited to attend our monthly membership meetings, typically held the first Thursday of the month during the school year. Meetings will mostly be during daytime hours, with occasional evening meeting times, and will be a mix of in-person and virtual Zoom meetings. At least one elected leader from each of our area PTA/PTSA units is expected to attend each meeting. Additional leaders are always welcomed.

In-person membership meetings will be held at the Lake Washington School District Resource Center in Redmond Town Center. The LWSD Resource Center address is: 16250 NE 74th St., Redmond WA 98052. Zoom meeting links for our online meetings will be available in the Weekly Waves newsletter that all local PTA leaders receive.

Our February 11, 2025, E-Prep Committee meeting was originally scheduled for Zoom, but has been changed to an in-person meeting in the Sammamish Room at the LWSD Resource Center (Redmond Town Center). The time remains the same, 10 am to noon. We’ll see you there!


Our Vision: Achieve a whole-community approach of emergency management, set forth by the Federal Emergency Management Association, as it relates to our school communities throughout the Lake Washington School District. The whole-community approach is a concept that emergency preparedness is a shared responsibility, and calls for the involvement of everyone in order to attain a secure, resilient community.

Our Mission:  To provide training, networking and support to emergency preparedness chairs from each school in order to encourage the PTA management of supplies, preparedness education, community engagement and facilitation of drills through building a relationship with the school principal.

The LWPTSA Sustainability Committee is made up of local sustainability chairs at schools across the district. The committee has worked on a range of issues, including food recovery, waste reduction, composting, green cleaning, no-idle zones, herbicide-free schools, and engaging and supporting students in their efforts to combat climate change and create a livable planet.

Sustainability Committee meetings for 2024-2025 will be a mix of in-person meetings at the LWSD Resource Center Sammamish Room (16250 NE 74th St., Redmond WA 98052) as well as online sessions via Zoom.

Have you ever wanted to learn more about the work of specialists and therapists in special education? Wished for ideas on how to support your child’s communication skills or motor development at home? A better understanding of the evaluation process for special education? Then you will want to attend the next Special Education Group (SEG) parent event!
We will have a specialist panel presentation, which will include a speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, school psychologist and behavioral health specialist.
 
These experts will share about their work in special education and offer ideas and resources for families.

LWPTSA Council’s Special Education Group’s (SEG) monthly meetings kick off at 6:30 pm with family networking. At 7 pm, we will begin our formal presentation. Ample time for discussion and Q&A will follow.
On-site child care is available for LWSD students and school-aged siblings! Contact SpecialServices@LWSD.org no later than 3 business days prior to the meeting, with your student’s name and age.

LWPTSA Council’s Special Education Group (SEG) aims to connect and support families in the LWSD community with students who receive special services through an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), 504 Accommodations Plan, or Individualized Health Plan (IHP). We host monthly meetings that start with time for families to connect with one another, followed by a formal presentation on topics relevant to the SEG community and an opportunity for member questions and input. We also support families and local PTA special education chairs through a lending library, information about resources available in our community, and updates on news relevant to the special education community.

LWPTSA Council is excited to host our annual Founders’ Day Luncheon on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 11 am to 1 pm, at a new venue: Matts’ Rotisserie and Oyster Lounge in Redmond Town Center (7325 166th Ave NE, Unit F210, Redmond WA 98052).

RSVPs are now closed.

Please dress comfortably and casually. Parking is plentiful at Redmond Town Center, but we encourage carpooling when possible!
