This is an in-person training at the LWSD Resource Center.
The LWPTSA Sustainability Committee meets monthly and focuses on raising awareness around sustainable initiatives district-wide, sharing resources, and connecting with one another. Community members are always welcome.
The Sustainability Committee is made up of local chairs at schools across the district. The committee has worked on a range of issues, including food recovery, waste reduction, composting, green cleaning, no-idle zones, herbicide-free schools, and engaging and supporting students in their efforts to combat climate change and create a livable planet.
All local PTA leaders are invited to attend our monthly membership meetings held the first Thursday of the month during the school year. Each year three meetings are held in the evening. This year they are November, January and April.
In-person membership meetings will be held at the Lake Washington School District Resource Center in Redmond Town Center. The LWSD Resource Center address is: 16250 NE 74th St., Redmond WA 98052. Zoom meeting links for our December 2022 and May 2023 online meetings will be available in the Weekly Waves newsletter that all local PTA leaders receive.
Bring your kids’ outgrown or unneeded band, orchestra or choir concert attire, and browse for new-to-you items in the sizes you need for this year’s musical performances. Warm winter coats in ALL sizes are also needed.
No cost to participate, and no obligation to give clothing in order to receive.
Clothing contributions are gratefully accepted. Visit https://lwptsa-endpoint-b3fqhjf4e8axbfdw.z02.azurefd.net/clothing-swap/ for complete details, including what we are accepting and how to donate clothing items.
Our scholarship program auction reception & raffle is also happening at LWSD Resource Center at the same time, so we invite you to come place bids and purchase raffle tickets for prizes. (All proceeds from the auction directly fund our annual scholarship program to support graduating LWSD seniors as well as certificated staff seeking continuing education.)

Your standing rules are the agreement between your board of directors and your members about how your PTA will do business. What needs to be there? What does not? Whether your standing rules need a complete overhaul or just a quick update, this workshop will walk you through it. Bring your PTA’s standing rules!
Time change and special opportunity for November’s SEG meeting: We are excited to invite you to join the Seattle Special Education PTSA, Arc of King County, and several additional local nonprofits for an evening with clinical psychologist and New York Times best-selling author Dr. Ross Greene.
Dr. Greene will explain Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS) as a way of supporting all learners so they can access their education. CPS provides an alternative to discipline practices that often create barriers for students in our schools. Following his presentation, Ramona Hattendorf, Director of Advocacy for the Arc of King County, will facilitate a Q&A with Dr. Greene. We are excited to hear from Dr. Greene and hope you are able to join!
