Transform and Empower Your Relationship With Your Teen

Parents and caregivers: Unlock the secrets to a happier, healthier relationship with your adolescent! Lake Washington PTSA Council presents a comprehensive event designed to provide you with the tools, knowledge and confidence to support your teenagers through their most challenging years.

Transformative Parenting: Empowering Your Journey With Teens — Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 10 am to 1 pm, at the LWSD Resource Center. Presented by LWPTSA Council and featuring Deborah Sleeman and speakers from PEPS. More info & RSVP at http://LWPTSA.net/transformative-parentingTo guide you in these insightful sessions, we’re excited to welcome knowledgeable speakers who will help you connect with your kids and empower your parenting journey.

Three dynamic speakers from the Seattle-based parenting resource group PEPS will be joining us. Keynote speaker Jamie Elzea will kick off the day addressing how to identify stress in your teen and practice effective coping mechanisms to build their resilience.

Next, attendees may choose from two sessions for caregivers of younger and older adolescents: Paulina Cuevas will dive into the science of adolescent brain development to understand their behavior and learn techniques for effective communication with your tween/teen. Concurrently, Gloria Martinez will explore strategies to be supportive and understanding as your teens navigate the complexities of their social and online worlds.

And in a general session to round out this day of learning, we welcome parent educator and youth ally Deborah Sleeman, who will help us gain a deeper understanding of gender and sexual orientation, and discover ways to support the mental health and well-being of LGBTQ+ youth.
