LWPTSA Council Opposes Initiative 2066

The Lake Washington PTSA Council membership, at its Oct. 3, 2024, general meeting, voted to oppose Initiative 2066. The initiative seeks to repeal provisions of Washington law that require major utilities to find decarbonization pathways; repeals provisions requiring major utilities to maintaining natural gas rate stability for end users; and repeals provisions related to incentivizing electrification, among other provisions.

Repealing decarbonization provisions and a pathway off natural gas would impact the ability of our schools to transition infrastructure to cleaner forms of energy. LWPTSA Council advocates for a sustainable future and cost savings for schools and urges all voters to vote NO on Initiative 2066 to protect our children’s future and health.
