LWPTSA Council is pleased to announce the expansion of the award-winning Lake Washington High School College Essay Workshop (CEW). Started in 2015, the program provides seniors with college application essay and personal statement support. We also steer students in the right direction for any additional help they may need.

Mission: College Essay Workshop believes all students should have access to the resources and support they deserve when navigating the college application process.

Trained CEW volunteers help students with their college application essays, personal statements and supplements. Weekly Waves, Currents and the high school PTA/PTSA newsletters publish timely updates; please see these for further details.

Volunteer to host or coach.

“The experience was very helpful to me, especially as a low income student who didn’t have the means to talk to a college counselor.”

“…it was good to see how the effect of my words was coming across in different ways to different people. I thought it was really easy to sign up or drop in for feedback and I appreciated the help.”

“I definitely felt much more confident and prepared walking out of the workshop than I did before.”

“The PTSA workshop had been extremely helpful during my college application process. As a Running Start student, I had learned to work independently and be self-sufficient for the past year, but when it came to college applications, I was nervous and doubtful. The PTSA workshop was a reliable resource that I could depend on during this stressful time. It was easy to sign up, and I was given quality advice on my essays. They also helped answer any questions I had about the application process outside of the essay portion since they are experienced and have helped many student years before. Overall, I am thankful to have had the PTSA workshop by my side.”
