Why and How Do We Advocate?

Advocacy is key to ensuring all students receive equitable resources and opportunities. By using our collective voice, we influence decisions that shape education at every level.

Why We Advocate:

  • To ensure equity and access for all students
  • To influence policies impacting education and student well-being
  • To drive change for issues like school funding, safety and mental health services

How to Advocate:

  1. School Level: Get involved with your school’s PTA to address local needs, such as funding, safety and inclusive practices.
  2. Council Level (LWPTSA): Collaborate with the LWPTSA Council on district-wide initiatives. Work with other PTAs to influence district policies and advocate for all students in Lake Washington School District.
  3. State Level (Washington State PTA): Join WSPTA efforts to advocate for state policies affecting education. Attend Legislative Assembly, Focus Day, and participate in discussions that impact all students in Washington.
