Young Artists Excel in National PTA Round of Judging
Lake Washington PTSA Council is excited to congratulate four Lake Washington School District students whose artwork has earned honors at the national round of judging in this year’s National PTA Reflections arts program.
National PTA announced the winners of its 2023-2024 Reflections® student art program on May 1. Seven students received top honors with the Outstanding Interpretation Award, and 200+ students have been recognized with Awards of Excellence and Merit. The awards honor creative interpretations of the theme, “I am Hopeful Because…” in the categories of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts, as well as a special artist division.
The LWSD student artists who are among the National PTA honorees are:
- Vaishnavi Hemant (Clara Barton Elementary PTSA), “Together We Can…” — Award of Excellence (Film Production)
- Kirill E. Kadach (Redmond Middle School PTSA), “The Winding Path of Curiosity” — Award of Merit (Photography)
- Anushka Kar (Ella Baker Elementary PTSA), “Hope for New Home!” — Award of Excellence (Literature)
- Tanisha Manna (Redmond Elementary PTSA), “Kindness Rocks!” — Award of Excellence (Visual Arts)
LWPTSA Council received 326 local finalist entries from 39 of our district PTAs and PTSAs in this year’s program, and 66 winners were selected from among those to advance to the Washington State PTA round. From among nearly 700 entries received by WSPTA, 21 LWSD student artists earned state honors, with nine receiving Outstanding Interpretation and moving on to the national round. Finally, from 45 state PTA congresses, National PTA received more than 900 student entries, and selected these winners from among them.
The theme for the 2024-2025 Reflections program is “Accepting Imperfection.” LWPTSA Council looks forward to kicking off another inspirational year of art and creativity in the fall!
