At our June 2023 membership meeting, Lake Washington PTSA Council awarded the final You Rock! award of the year to Elizabeth Blackwell Elementary PTSA in recognition of their May 2023 virtual talent show.
Students, parent volunteers, Blackwell’s principal Jim Eaton, and Blackwell music teachers collaborated on the promotion and production of this fun family engagement program, using videos and a virtual presentation to boost participation and allow for greater inclusion across the school community.
A total of 147 one-minute videos were submitted and cut together, then presented virtually during a live evening event on May 18 as families and staff members watched from home. Engagement in this year’s show doubled from the previous year, and included many staff members as well as students.
